Awareness programme on Organ Donation at Urban Primary Health Centre, Kshetrigao, Imphal East, Manipur

  • On May 8, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness programme at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Kshetrigao, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Program Lead - North East cum Project Lead - Manipur, and Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.

     

    The programme was held in the presence of Dr. Jahangir Shah, Medical Officer In-Charge, and Mrs. Premlata, Nurse In-Charge of UPHC Kshetrigao, along with healthcare professionals from the Community Medicine Department of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Manipur. It was part of a weekly health camp coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator, JNIMS.

     

    Ms. Monica introduced the objectives of MOHAN Foundation and delivered a session on “What is organ donation?”, followed by the distribution of FAQs in the local language to enhance understanding.

     

    Following the session, a meeting was held with Dr. Shah and Mrs. Premlata to explore future collaboration. It was agreed that regular awareness sessions would be held every Wednesday across villages in the Imphal East district.

     

    Around 40 participants, including healthcare professionals and community members, attended the session and gained valuable insights into organ donation.
