On 1st December, 2013 an awareness talk on deceased donor organ donation was organized at Tripunithura, Ernakulam as part of honouring donor family and handing over the fund to organ recipients to meet the post transplant expenses. Members of the Manjalipara Residential Association, Yeroor constituted a committee to coordinate this event. On this occasion committee members in was held at SDKY auditorium, Yeroor, Pottayil Temple. The programme started with a welcome speech delivered by Mr. Gopalakrishnan, Convenor, organizing committee.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. K. Babu, Excise and Fisheries Minister, Govt of Kerala. Dr. Muhammed Iquebal, Nephrologist, Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi, Mr. R. Venugopal, Municipal Chairman, Mr. Sundaran C. N. Corporation opposition leader also addressed the gathering.
Mr. Aneesh P. V. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala delivered a talk on organ donation. In his talk he covered the following topics: Role of Mrithasanjeevani, THO Act 1994, importance of organ donation, types of donation, difference between coma, cardiac death and brain death, Donor card and KNOS website.
Around 250 members were participated in the event.
