Awareness session on Organ Donation conducted for staff members of Safai Karmachari, Deeksha Bhoomi Square, Nagpur.

  • On 14th January 2022 , Mr. Bulu Behera conducted a sensitization programme on organ donation for staff members of Safai Karmachari, Deeksha Bhoomi square, Nagpur. Mr.Rajesh Bhujade Supervisor of  Safai Karmachari of  Laxmi Nagar NMC Office invited Mr. Bulu Behera to give an awareness session  on organ donation to their staff members.

    Mr. Bulu Behera introduced himself and MOHAN Foundation. He then explained about the governmental bodies such as ZTCC, NOTTO, ROTTO-SOTTO and their role in organ donation.

    Thereafter, he discussed the below topics on organ donation

    1. Concept of organ donation and its types
    2. Types of death- brain death and circulatory death
    3. Difference between coma and brain death?
    4. Which are the organs and tissues that can be donated after brain death and circulatory death?
    5. Procedure of eye donation and whole body donation
    6. Donor card and its importance.
    7. THO Act -1994 was explained

     After the session, donor cards were distributed to the participants. They appreciated the session and thanked Mr. Bulu for giving them such a meaningful and motivational session. Around 22 participants participated in the session, 5 of them pledged their organs.

    Questions asked by the participants were as follows:

    1. Whom should we contact for eye donation, after a person’s death?
    2. Where is the main office of MOHAN Foundation?
    3. What is the difference between coma and brain death?

     We thank Mr. Rajesh Bhujade, Supervisor of Safai Karmachari for inviting us and supporting the cause of organ donation.
