Sensitization programme on organ donation conducted at Meditrana Hospital, Ramdeshpeth, Nagpur.

  • On 13th January 2022, sensitization programme on organ donation was conducted at Meditrana Hospital, Ramdeshpeth, Nagpur. Dr. Ved Saranga transplant coordinator invited Mr.Bulu Behera to conduct a programme on organ donation for their administrative staff members.

    The session was conducted at conference hall of Meditrana Hospital, Nagpur. 30 members participated in the event.

    Mr. Bulu introduced himself and presented his presentation by explaining MOHAN Foundation and its activities.

    Thereafter, he explained the below topics about organ donation

    1. What is organ donation?
    2. Who can donate?
    3. Concept of brain death
    4. Types of death- Brain death and circulatory death
    5. Procedure of eye and body donation
    6. Importance of Donor card
    7. THO Act was explained
    8. Information about NOTTO, ZTCC, ROTTO-SOTTO was given to the participants.

     

    Questions asked by participants were as follows:

    • After a person’s death, whom should we contact for eye donation?
    • What is the time duration for eye donation?
    • Can a person with diabetes donate kidney?

     

    Mr. Bulu Behera clarified all the questions of the participants. The session motivated all the participants to pledge their organs. Dr. Ved Saranga gave the vote of thanks and appreciated Mr. Bulu for conducting this session.
