Awareness session on Organ Donation at VED College of Nursing, Panipat

  • On July 14, 2023, the VED College of Nursing, Panipat, invited SOTTO Haryana & MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness program in honor of organ donation awareness month.


    Ms Nidhi, Principal, VED College of Nursing, was the contact person for organizing the session. She introduced the SOTTO team and MOHAN Foundation to the audience.


    Ms. Renu Kumari then delivered a comprehensive and extremely informative presentation on organ donation, which included the following topics:


    • What is organ donation?

    • Who can donate organs?

    • Importance of organ donation

    • Introduction to THOA, 1994 (amendments & rules)


    Ms. Deepti Kumari, Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO Haryana, spoke about when organ donation can take place, the myths, and misconceptions regarding organ donation, and how to pledge for organ and tissue donation.


    The participants showed very keen interest and were motivated to support the cause. They also raised various queries after the presentation, for example, status of organ donation in Haryana, whether one can pledge to donate organs to only the family members upon death etc.


    At the end of the session a short film on organ donation was played. FAQs on organ donation were distributed.


    The faculty of VED College of Nursing expressed gratitude to the SOTTO & MOHAN Foundation team for enhancing their students' knowledge and inspiring them to support the cause of organ donation.


    Close to 160 students attended the session that were conducted in two batches. The participants consisted of B.Sc. Nursing & General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) students.


    122 students signed the organ donation pledge form.
