  • A comprehensive and enlightening session on organ donation was organized at Guru Nanak College at 30th of June from MOHAN Foundation with the aim of spreading awareness and promoting the life-saving impact of organ and tissue donation. The event witnessed active participation from 81 students, faculty members, and staff, all eager to learn about this noble cause. Students belonged to the departments of Social work, Sociology, and Defence Studies.  The Head of Department Dr Shanti welcomed the MOHAN Foundation team.

The session was conducted by an internee Keertthana.S from MOHAN Foundation. We provided in-depth insights into the process of organ donation, including who can donate, how the organs are matched and transplanted, and the legal and ethical frameworks that govern the practice in India. Special emphasis was placed on clearing myths and misconceptions, such as the fear that medical treatment might be compromised if someone is a registered donor.

Emotional and inspiring real-life stories of organ donors and recipients were shared, which had a profound impact on the audience. These stories highlighted how a single decision could save or improve multiple lives. Students were encouraged to take the pledge to become organ donors and were guided through the online and offline registration process. We concluded the session with a lively question-and-answer segment by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde  where students voiced their doubts and received clear, empathetic responses from the experts.  At the end, a quiz was conducted to emphasize the learning of concepts. Around 25 students picked a donor card.

Overall, the session at Guru Nanak College was a great success, raising awareness, inspiring compassion, and motivating many to take a step toward giving the gift of life through organ donation. MOHAN Foundation thanks the staff and management of the college for this opportunity.
