Updated on Saturday, February 28, 2026
  • On February 28, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ and tissue donation at Akshaya Trust – KK Nagar, Chennai. Around 30 senior citizen residents actively participated in the programme.

The session began with an introduction to organ donation by Mrs. Arshiya Fathima, Senior Project Executive. This was followed by an informative talk on eye donation by Ms. Kanishka, Project Executive, who explained the donation process, eligibility criteria, myths and facts, and the importance of pledging for donation. The session was highly interactive, with residents showing great enthusiasm and curiosity. Many participants shared personal experiences about organ and blood donation within their families, which made the session more meaningful and engaging.

Several thoughtful questions were raised by the residents, such as whether individuals with jaundice could donate their eyes and whether eyes with poor vision would still be useful for transplantation. These queries were addressed in detail, helping to clarify their doubts and improve their understanding.

By the end of the session, three residents expressed interest in eye donation and two showed willingness for organ donation. A few others also showed interest in whole body donation and mentioned that they would confirm their decision after discussing it with their family members. Informational brochures were distributed, and the importance of communicating one’s donation wish to family members was emphasized.

MOHAN Foundation sincerely thank Ms. Bhuvana – Manager from Akshaya Trust Senior Citizen Home for providing this valuable opportunity and for their wholehearted support in making the programme successful.
