Awareness Programme on Organ Donation and Transplantation at West Noabadi High School, Amtalli, West Tripura

  • On June 19, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness programme on organ donation and transplantation for the students and teaching staff of West Noabadi High School, Amtalli, West Tripura. The session was conducted by Ms. Nipa Modak, Programme Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Tripura.

     

    Ms. Nipa began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and highlighting its mission, vision, and commitment to promoting organ donation awareness across the country. She then delivered an informative presentation covering the following key topics:

     

    1. The concept of organ and tissue donation
    2. Types of death: circulatory death and brain death
    3. Brain death declaration, including the apnoea test and other clinical assessments
    4. The procedures involved in deceased and living organ donation
    5. The process of eye, skin, and bone donation
    6. Common myths and facts surrounding organ donation

     

    The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging in the discussion and seeking clarification on various aspects of organ donation. Their queries were addressed with factual and evidence-based information, helping to improve their understanding of the subject.

     

    The programme was attended by 31 students and 4 teachers. It concluded successfully, creating greater awareness about organ donation and transplantation while encouraging participants to become informed advocates for this life-saving cause.
