MOHAN Foundation Conducts Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Talk at Eye OPD, RIMS

  • On June 26, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at Eye New Out Patient Department (OPD) of OPD Block, RIMS. The session was conducted by Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal and he was accompanied by Mr. Laishram Bidyananda Singh, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

     

    Mr. Paringanba began the session with an interactive discussion to assess the participants' knowledge and attitudes towards organ donation. He then delivered an informative presentation on living and deceased organ donation, explaining their differences, significance, and the impact they can have in saving lives. He highlighted that one deceased organ donor can save up to eight lives through organ transplantation.

     

    He also spoke about the legal aspects of organ donation, explaining the key provisions of the governing legislation. He emphasized that the buying and selling of human organs is strictly prohibited and is a punishable offence under the law.

     

    At the conclusion of the session, Mr. Paringanba guided the participants through the process of pledging for organ and tissue donation. He also shared the toll-free helpline and the contact details of the Manipur office for any organ donation-related enquiries. The session concluded with the distribution of informational leaflets to all participants.

     

    Close to 50 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights into organ and tissue donation.
