Awareness Stall at a Durga Temple in Ambajhari, Nagpur

  • MOHAN Foundation set up an organ donation awareness stall in a Durga Temple in the Ambajhari locality of Nagpur on October 13th 2020. Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, invited by Mr. Gabande, managed the stall which had information brochures, donor cards, banners and standees.

    The visitors were given information on the following:

    • What is Organ donation?
    • Who can donate organs?
    • What is the age limit for organ donation?
    • Difference between coma and brain death
    • Who are we donating organs for?
    • Age limit for organ donation
    • Time factor in organ donation
    • Information about Organ Transplant Act 1994
    • Importance of donor card
    • Information about religion and organ donation
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Using the Helpline number and website of MOHAN Foundation

    Question asked by the stall visitors included:

    • Why is bone marrow transplant required?
    • Is it possible to donate organs if the donor card is misplaced?
    • What is the time duration for organ donation after brain death?
    • What is the difference between natural death and brain death?
    • Does MOHAN Foundation provide any financial support?

    Around 28 people visited the stall and 3 of them signed consent form and took donor cards. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mr. Gabande for the initiative.
