Organ Donation Awareness during Durga Puja Celebrations in Sone Gaon, Nagpur

  • A stall to spread awareness about organ donation was set up in Sone Gaon, Nagpur on 17th October 2020. Mr. Ravindra Kuthe invited Mr. Bulu Behera of MOHAN Foundation for the event during the Durga Puja Celebrations.  

    Mr. Behera interacted with the stall visitors and gave information on the following topics:

    • What is Organ donation?
    • Who can donate organs?
    • What is the age limit for organ donation?
    • Difference between coma and brain death
    • Who are we donating organs for?
    • Age limit for organ donation
    • Time factor in organ donation
    • Information about Organ Transplant Act 1994
    • Importance of donor card
    • Information about religion and organ donation
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Using the Helpline number and website of MOHAN Foundation

    The residents had the below questions for Mr. Behera:

    • Does the government offer any financial support for transplants?
    • Is it possible to get a lung transplant in Nagpur?
    • What is the difference between natural death and brain death?
    • Organs that can be donated after brain death

    Around 28 people visited the stall and 3 of them signed consent form and took donor cards. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mr. Kuthe for the initiative.
