Awareness Session on Organ Donation for a Family in Nagpur

  On 17th May 2023, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the family of Baxi’s at Laxmi Nagar, Nagpur, to conduct an awareness session for the 7 members.

  Ms. Bhagyashree Nighot explained about organ donation as well as body donation while Ms. Veena Wathore explained the role of ZTCC. 

   They touched upon the basic concepts of organ donation, including –

  • What is organ donation
  • Living and deceased donor
  • Who can be a donor?
  • Types of death, definition of each and what can be donated in each type
  • Why consider organ donation?
  • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements
  • How to pledge organs?

  The participants raised a few queries such as –

  • Can all religions donate organs?
  • Why is the role of police in organ donation not formally included in any of the Acts and rules of the Police?
  • How does one take the Pledge if they wish to be an organ donor?

  Both answered all queries of the members.

  Flyers of basic information with regards to organ donation, were distributed to all.

  2 of the participants stepped forth and committed to pledge their organs. Their act of pledging support to organ donation was appreciated by the others.
