  • On May 29, 2025, the NCR office of MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Alba Robin, Nursing Manager at Cloudnine Hospital, Kailash Colony, to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for the hospital staff. The session was led by Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer at MOHAN Foundation NCR. Participants included nursing staff from the wards and ICU, as well as housekeeping staff.

Ms. Simran began the session by engaging participants in an interactive discussion about their understanding of organ donation. One participant shared a personal story about her sister, who was declared brain-dead during her seventh month of pregnancy after sustaining a severe head injury. Her husband consented to donate her organs, resulting in the successful donation of her eyes and kidneys.

Ms. Simran then presented the basic concepts of organ donation and explained the current organ donation scenario in India and how transplants work. To help everyone understand "brain death" better, she screened a short educational video and explained the steps doctors follow to confirm brain death and its legal significance.

The session covered essential topics, including the importance of organ donation, who can donate, the difference between living and deceased donors, and which organs and tissues can be donated during life and after death. She also spoke about eye donation and how to preserve the corneas after death.

Additionally, Ms. Simran provided a brief overview of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, and shared information about MOHAN Foundation’s work and ways people can support the cause of organ donation. She dispelled common myths and explained how brain death differs from a coma.

She concluded by emphasizing how organ donation can save lives and encouraged everyone to consider pledging their organs, describing it as one of the greatest gifts one can give.

The session was attended by around 25 people.
