Organ Donation Awareness at Vilapakkam, Tiruvallur

  • On May 26, 2025, an organ and tissue donation awareness session was conducted for the residents of Vilapakkam village. They had come  to  a  mobile medical camp organized by Mahatma Gandhi Medical Center run by Sevalaya, NGO.

    The session was started by Ms. Sangeetha, Project executive, who delivered an insightful speech on the importance of eye donation, highlighting how a single donor can restore vision for up to two individuals and addressing common myths related to eye donation.

     Following her, Mr. Kousikan, Intern, spoke about organ donation, explaining which organs can be donated, who can become a donor, and also explained about brain death.

    Ms. Vaishnavi, Intern distributed the informational brochures for better understanding about the topic to the participants.

    Over 45 people attended the session and from that 29 took the donor card. 

    MOHAN Foundation thank Sevalaya, NGO and Ms. Anupriya for giving this opportunity to spread awareness in the rural community. The event was well-received and helped promote a positive mindset toward organ and tissue donation.
