Awareness Session on Organ Donation conducted at Government Polytechnic College, Secunderabad

  • On 23rd September 2023, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on Organ Donation for the students of Government Polytechnic College in Secunderabad. The session was organised in collaboration with Rotary Club of Cantonment Secunderabad. Dr. Bhanu Prakash was the speaker. The following were discussed in detail

    • Organ donation and its need in the society
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • Transplant waiting list in India
    • Myths on Organ Donation
    • Brain death
    • Clinical aspects of brain death
    • Contraindications to organ donation

    The students actively participated in the session and posed several questions. To name a few

    • Cost of Transplantation
    • Green corridor

     Dr. Bhanu Prakash urged the participants to pledge for organ donation. Donor cards and brochures were distributed at the end of the session. Close to 200 students were present in the session
