The Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Kalamasserry, invited MOHAN Foundation for a skill development program

  • Ms. Sujatha Suriyamoothi, Associate director - Courses, MOHAN Foundation was invited as a resource person for the student-led skill development programme on "Healing Horizons: Exploring Medical Social Work" at the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Kalamasserry held on September 23, 2023.

    She delivered a comprehensive address on the subject of "Social Work in Health Care - Organ Donation and Transplant." She insisted the critical distinction between the need for organs and their actual availability for transplantation. Her presentation included the multifaceted roles and prospects for social workers within organ donation and transplant programme such as

    • Coordination of organ donation
    • Coordination of transplant procedures
    • Advocacy and public education
    • Engagement in education and research
    • Engagement in ethical and policy-making discussions

    Additionally, she shared an in-depth discussion on the requisite skills and responsibilities of social workers engaged in organ donation and transplantation initiatives, both within healthcare institutions and within the broader societal context.
