Awareness Session on Organ Donation at UPHC Kshetrigao, Imphal

  • On February 19, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Kshetrigao, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Imphal East, Manipur. The session was conducted by Ms. Moirangthem Priya, Program Executive along with Mr. Elangbam Paringanba, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

     

    As part of the UPHC’s immunization initiative, the session was conducted in collaboration with Ms. Premlata, Nurse In-Charge of UPHC, ensuring effective coordination and participation.

     

    Ms. Priya explained the concept and importance of organ donation, highlighting the difference between living and deceased donation. She emphasized that organ donation is a life-saving act that greatly improves the quality of life of many patients and clarified that the buying and selling of organs is illegal and punishable by law. Addressing common myths, she noted that most major religions support organ donation and reassured the audience that cornea donation does not cause any disfigurement to the deceased.

     

    She concluded the session by reiterating that organ donation is a powerful way to save lives and encouraged everyone to consider registering as organ donors. Informative leaflets were distributed to enhance participants’ understanding and support further learning about organ donation.

     

    Approximately 13 participants took part in the session and acquired valuable insights into the significance and life-changing impact of organ donation.
