Awareness Session on Organ Donation & Information Stall at Chanakya IAS Academy, Nagpur

  • On 14th July 2019, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation conducted awareness session on organ donation and stall for public awareness at Chanakya IAS Academy at Nagpur.

    Chanakya IAS Academy helps students for civil services exam preparation. The session was held by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi (Transplant Coordinator) and the participants were students and their parents. About 2500 people attended the session out of 200 people visited the stall and saw organ donation banner, leaflets and donor card.

    Ms. Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 22 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She also introduced the public about new advances like Hand Donation. She explained about tissue donation (skin, eyes & bones).

    She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was somewhat familiar to the participants. Mr. Nitin who is a teacher of this academy is very positive about the cause of Organ Donation and wanted to spread awareness about Organ Donation and educate general public facilitated this session.

    About 20 people took pledge including Mr. A. K. Mishra (owner of Chankya IAS Academy). Mr. A. K. Mishra suggested that this type of awareness is very necessary for people as they are getting sensitized about organ donation and their doubts get clear. We thank Mr. A. K. Mishra for inviting us for conducting awareness at such a large scale.
