Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for NCC Cadets at Geeta Institute of Management and Technology, Haryana

  • On 25th July 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Major Minakshi to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their first girls battalion in Haryana. Around 600 Cadets from 17 colleges, 9 schools of Haryana participated in the program.

    Firstly, Neha Sharma introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the students questions to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain stem death by Ms. Neha Sharma.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between circulatory death and brain stem death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of organ transplants being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
    • Importance of the Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

    The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by Major Minakshi. She encouraged the Cadets to become aware and spread the message of organ donation. The entire group got motivated and it was an interactive session. All the questions were answered after the presentation and 100 donor cards were picked by the cadets.

    In the end they showed great interest and would like to do more programs with MOHAN Foundation.
