On July 15, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Mantripukhri Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Imphal-East, Manipur, conducted an awareness session on organ donation. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) cum Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.
The session was organised as part of the immunization programme, with coordination and support from Mr. Kiran, Program Head, Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), and support staff.
Mr. Bidyananda opened the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its objectives, and its vision. Key topics covered included the concept of brain death and the procedures involved in its medical declaration, corneal and kidney transplantation, and practical steps individuals can take to support the cause of organ donation.
He emphasized the importance of organ donation, explained the eligibility criteria for becoming a donor, and highlighted that organ donation transcends barriers of caste and religion, with no faith or community opposing the noble act of saving lives through donation.
The session also addressed common myths and facts about organ donation, aiming to dispel misconceptions and encourage informed discussions. Mr. Bidyananda concluded by highlighting the urgent need for organ donation in the state, urging participants to take initiative by spreading awareness and pledging to donate.
Informative pamphlets on organ donation were distributed by Mrs. Mayarani during the session. Nearly 15 participants attended, gaining meaningful insights into the importance of organ donation and its impact on saving lives.
