An awareness session on eye donation was conducted for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), Palghar, on Monday, 5th January 2026. The session was organized to educate participants about the importance of eye donation and to address common misconceptions associated with the process.
Ms. Prachiti Mali facilitated the session and began by explaining the concept of eye donation and its significance in restoring vision through corneal transplantation. She elaborated on the causes of corneal blindness, the importance of corneal tissue, and the necessary precautions to be taken for successful donation. The eligibility criteria, including the age factor, were also discussed, with emphasis on the fact that individuals of most age groups can pledge to donate their eyes.
The session further covered important legal aspects related to eye donation, including consent procedures and the role of family members. Ms. Prachiti also addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding eye donation, providing clear and factual information to enhance participants’ understanding.
A total of 25 members of the general public attended the session. The participants showed interest and actively engaged in the discussion, making the session informative and impactful.
