2nd Organ Donation Awareness Programme at NIMS Medicity, Neyattingara, Trivandrum

  • The second set of Organ Donation awareness programme was organized by the NIMS Medicity for the Dialysis Technicians, OT staff Nurses and Maternity Staff Nurses on 28th February 2018. Ms. Kavitha. S, Transplant Coordinator represented MOHAN Foundation.

    The programme started with welcome address by Mrs. Josin, Vice Principal, College of Nursing of NIMS.  Following that Ms. Kavitha briefed on following topics:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma, Aponea Test
    • Importance of Donor card and consent from the family
    • Tissues and organs that can be donated
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme
    • Helpline Number and website as source of information
    • How to register for Cadaver Transplantation
    • Kerala Network for Organ Sharing
    • Online pledging system

    At the end of the session few moving  donor stories were shared. Totally 16 participants attended the session and all promised to pledged their organs online.
