  • Organ donation and transplantation is the most remarkable success story in the field of medical practice. All of us can be donors irrespective of age, caste, religion, community, current or past medical condition.

On August 22nd 2018 MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness program at Proadapt Business Solutions Pvt.Ltd located at Thoraipakkam, Chennai. The talk was held at a conference hall where 20 employees gathered. The welcome and introduction was given by Ms. Daphne Rowena l, HR department. The meeting started at 5:30 PM it was an interactive session. Before beginning the session, green  organ donation supporting ribbons were distributed by Miss. Hepzibah Synthiah David (Intern student of Madras Medical Mission). Mr. T. S. Sivashankar gave a elaborate talk about MOHAN Foundation, organ donation, and organ transplantation and brain death.  During the  talk many queries were raised.  As they are working in the corporate sector they didn’t know exactly what organ donation is,  their understanding was through movies, news, articles. They were very much inspired by the video that was played at the end of the session. By the end, the acceptance towards organ donation was observed, with 18 registered as organ donors.

Staff took their pictures with the large Donor Card as a remembrance of this day.  Overall the session was very interactive and an informative session. The best part of the session was the video, because I observed many people talking about it and came forward towards registration.

Ms. Daphne also shared her story with us stating that her father has gone through a liver transplantation and he is a transplant survivor. She shared her experience and what all types of psychological stages she and her family went through.
