

On 19th March, 2023 an online awareness talk on deceased organ donation was organized by St Mariam Thresia Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Chengalpattu in association with MOHAN Foundation. After the Sunday Mass all devotees gathered at seminar hall for online session. The programme started with a welcome speech delivered by Mr. Anoop John, Programme Coordinator of the church.
Mrs. Kavitha Aneesh, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation delivered a talk on organ donation. In her talk she covered the following topics: Role of MOHAN Foundation in Organ donation, THO Act 1994, importance of deceased organ donation, types of donation, difference between coma, cardiac death and brain death, Donor card, Transplant Registry, activities of MOHAN Foundation and Toll free number.
It was completely an interactive session where people raised many queries on brain death, Organ donation in unnatural deaths etc.
At the end of the session, all of the devotees who attended the programme pledged their organs and promised to carry the donor card with them. Around 40 members participated in the event.
