Students of DRBCC Hindu College of Arts and Science learn about organ donation and transplant coordination

  • MOHAN Foundation conducted an Organ Donation Awareness talk and Career Guidance programme for the students of Social Work department of DRBCC Hindu College of Arts and Science, Chennai. Ms. Kavitha S. Marketing Coordinator represented MOHAN Foundation. The session was conducyed on 9th February 2015 in their lecture hall. 

     

    The session was divided into two 1. Organ Donation Awareness  & 2. Carrier Guidance programme.

     

    Ms. Kavitha  S, delivered a talk on Organ Donation to students of Social Work students and B.Com Corporate Secretaryship. Following that a career guidance programme was organized for the social work students.  In her talk she explained the following:

     

    •  
      • Importance and need of organ donation
      • Types of donations – live and deceased donation
      • Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death
      • Organs and tissues  that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death
      • Eye donation
      • Importance of Donor card, helpline number and website
      • Role and Responsibilities of a transplant coordinator
      • Transplant Coordinator as a profession

     

    Nearly 150 students attended the session. At the end of the session “Priceless Gift” information brochures and Transplant Coordinator Training Programme brochures were distributed. All the students supported the noble cause by picking up donor cards and registering for organ donation.
