Students of Anna Adarsh College for Women, Chennai gain knowledge about organ donation

  • An awareness session on organ donation was conducted for the  students of  Department of  Social Work, Anna Adarsh College for Women, Chennai through online  webinar on May 10, 2022. About 18 students and a faculty attended the webinar. Dr Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, Ms Preetha Baskar, Project Executive and Mr Ganesh, Marketing coordinator from MOHAN Foundation conducted the sessions.

     

    The session commenced with a video explaining the value of organ donation. Ms Preetha started her talk on the concepts, law, myths, process for pledging organs and other relevant facts about organ donation. She additionally narrated a donor story and a recipient story. A short video on brain stem death was  screened. Followed by it, the Q & A session began. A student questioned whether the whole eye will be donated or just the cornea in eye donation. 

     

    Dr Hemal Kanvinde began the recipient counseling session. She discussed a story of a kidney transplant recipient and her struggles. She also suggested the students to visit a dialysis center to know more about the hardships faced by kidney failure patients. To emphasize the importance of organ donation a heart transplant recipient video was screened.  

     

    In the final session, Mr Ganesh gave information on the career courses offered by MOHAN Foundation.
