Staff Nurses of NIMHANS learn about Organ Donation

  • The MOHAN Foundation team of Bangalore conducted a sensitization programme in NIMHANS Hospital on 3rd December 2019 for a batch of staff nurses.

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Marulappa L N, Transplant Coordinator and Mrs. Ranjini Shankar M S, Project Manager.

    The following topics were discussed in detail:

    • Introduction about MOHAN Foundation
    • Brain Stem Death
    • Circulatory Death
    • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
    • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
    • Role of Grief Counselors in Govts Hospitals
    • The burden of organ failure and need for organ donation
    • Importance of a donor card

    During the interaction, the audience raised questions related to the following subjects:

    • Consent Forms
    • Declaration of Brain Death
    • Brain Stem Death Certification Process

    Around 47 nurses attended the session, agreed to promote the cause and also exhibited interest to know more about the process.
