On 13th Sept. 2014, St. Antony Matric Hr Sec School, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai requested Cadaver Transplant Programme to display a Stall on Organ Donation at the school campus. The organizer Mr. James Sathyaraj said that they have been conducting different awareness programmes in the school specially students and their parents. So this year they wanted to promote organ donation. So through CTP Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, Chennai set an information stall at the campus.
The Transplant Coordinator explained the following topics who visited the stall
• Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
• Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
• Importance of the consent from the family
• Difference between Brain death, Coma and Natural Death
• Importance of Donor card
• Eye Donation
• Helpline number
Around 30 parents visited the stall, asked several questions and all the queries were answered. Finally 18 people picked donor cards and supported for the cause by pledging donor cards.
