On August 12, 2025 an Awareness on Organ donation was organized for the students of Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College, Chennai to commemorate World Organ Donation Day.
The session began with a welcome note by the students, Dr Ashok Kumar, professor welcomed the speakers Mr. Ganesh, Senior Project Executive and Ms Sangeetha Project Executive of MOHAN Foundation. The session commenced with the “Donor” video by AL Vijay. Mr Ganesh then spoke about the concept of organ donation, brain death, time factor, how to register as recipient and how to find a hospital with transplantation license, myths and facts and how to safeguard from scams. For better understanding, a video on “Understanding Brain Death” was streamed.
Ms Sangeetha, took over and spoke about corneal donation, the gift of sight, precaution to be taken for corneal donation. A short video on NetraDaan was played showcasing the importance of corneal donation. 196 students participated and information brochures were distributed to them. The session concluded with the National Anthem.
