Sensitization programme on Organ Donation conducted at Vasantrao Naik College, Nagpur

  • On 14th September 2022, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at Vasantrao Naik College, Nagpur. Dr Sadhna Shiledhar - Principal of this college organized this session for the students and staffs of Vasantrao Naik  College.

    Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi was the speaker for the day. She introduced MOHAN Foundation and its activities and provided them with the information on organ donation

    The following topics were discussed with the participants:

    1. What is organ donation?
    2. Who requires an organ transplant?
    3. Types of death? Brain death and Circulatory death
    4. Which are the organs and tissues that can be donated after brain death?
    5. A video on the concept of brain death was shown and explained to the participants.
    6. Myths and facts about organ donation was explained.

     

    The following were the questions asked by the participants:

     

    1. How are organs allocated?
    2. Is organ transplantation done in government hospitals?

     

    Participants actively participated in the session, they expressed their views and opinions about organ donation. The session motivated 158 participants to pledge their organs. Around 227 participants participated in the event.

    We thank Dr. Sadhna Shiledhar, Principal of this college for organizing this session and supporting the noble cause of organ donation.
