The Rotary Club of Bharathi and Chennai Silk invited MOHAN Foundation for a talk on Organ Donation and Transplantation. The sessions was held on Sept 17, 2022 at The Ruby Hall of Presidency Club. Dr Hemal Kanvinde was he resource person. For the 15 members who attended.
The President of the Clubs welcomed the members, introduced the speaker and felicitated her. Dr Hemal started her session with a motivational video. She then spoke on the Concepts of Organ donation: who, when, why and how of organ and tissue donation. Brain death was explained clearly. Information about to register and usage of the helpline was given.
During the exchange of ideas, it was revealed that 4 members had done cornea donation of their loved ones. Many spoke about voluntary body donation and the process and family to come together at the time of donation. Need for organs, reasons for organ failure and the heavy costs of transplants were discussed.
8 members registered as organ donors. At the end a vote of thanks was given. Meeting ended with promises of more collaborations. MOHAN Foundation thanks Presidents Ms Shilpa Menon and Ms Renukalakshmi Mohan for organizing this speaker meet.
