On April 21, 2022, Ms. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director, MOHAN Foundation and Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation, NCR was invited to Yaima Eye Hospital and college of Optometry, Imphal to deliver a talk on “Organ Donation” and “Cornea Donation”. They were accompanied by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Program Officer, MOHAN Foundation and Mr. Takhellambam Yaiphaba Singh, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, JNIMS Manipur.
The session was attended by Dr. Vikramjit Singh, Eye Specialist, Founder of Yaima Eye Hospital and college of Optometry, State program Officer (NPCB) NHM, Manipur along with the administrative staffs and students of the college.
Ms. Pallavi Kumar started off the session on “Organ donation and transplantation in North-Eastern part of India”. She outlined the difference of coma and brain death followed by clarifying the myths around organ donation. She concluded her session with some questions and answers to involve the students thus making the session interactive.
Ms. Lalitha Raghuram took over with a motivational speech and continued by highlighting the present scenario and fact about cornea donation in the particular region. She made the session very practical and enthusiastic by involving volunteers to draw and label a diagram of the eye on the whiteboard. Later the students help themselves out with active participation.
The session was concluded by Dr. Vikramjit Singh with a vote of thanks and expressing his sincere gratitude towards MOHAN Foundation.
The students and the faculty members were very supportive and enthusiastic during the session, which made it an interactive event.
