Rotary Club members learn about deceased organ donation from MOHAN Foundation

  • On 6th March 2014 Dr. Ravi Wankhede Director & Ms. Kanchan Shewde, transplant coordinator of MOHAN Foundation Nagpur canter, were invited by Rotary Club Nagpur to  talk on deceased organ donation.

     

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede gave a talk which highlighted organs and tissues that can be donated after Brain death, Natural death & Live donation. He made the members of the Rotary Club to understand that after brain death it is impossible to come back his/her life. Yet a brain death patient can help several people to their life.

     

    During the talk Dr.Ravi Wankhede said it is possible for the relative of brain death patient to give their consent to donate organs and tissues such as kidney, heart, liver, pancreas, lungs, eyes, bone etc. He gave information about MOHAN Foundation activities, transplant coordinator training programme, use of donor card, benefits of help line number.

     

    After the talk some question raised by participants such as given below.

    1. What are the processes of Eye donation?

    2. Where is MOHAN Foundation Office?

    3. If anyone wants to donate organ then their family will be get more priority or not?

     

    All the five participants took the pledge form to discuss with their family before picking up the donor card.
