Rally for Organ Donation Organised by Marwadi Mahila Mandal Members in Nagpur

  • On 31st August 2019, a rally in support of organ donation was organized by Marwadi Mahila Mandal and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital (IGGMCH). Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi (Transplant Coordinator) MOHAN Foundation, in association with Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation, helped with the arrangements and networking for the 5 KM rally starting from I.G.M.C.Hospital to Agrasen Chowk. Mrs. Uma Agrawal, President - Marwadi Mahila Mandal, initiated this campaign.

    Around 50 nurses, students of IGGMCH and volunteers of Marwadi Mahila Mandal were the part of this rally. More than 200 people belonging to various age groups held banners with inspiring slogans relating to organ donation and participated in the rally.

    Dr Vaishali C Shelgaonkar (HOD of Anaesthesia) and Dean Dr. Ajay Keoliya flagged off the rally by lighting the ceremonial lam at the hospital. 

    Mrs Anjali (Secretary of Marwadi Mahila Mandal) spoke about the statistics related to organs required and requested all the dignitaries to put up stickers supporting organ donation in their work places and thanked all the participants. Dr. Shelgaonkar thanked the dignitaries, sponsors, participating NGOs and hospital staff. After therally ended, everyone stood and took an oath to be organ donors and to spread the message of organ donation to future generations.
