  • On 25th August 2019, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation, conducted an awareness session on organ donation for public at Eklavya Coaching Classes, Nagpur. It was held by Ms Prarthana Dwivedi (Transplant Coordinator) and about 70 students of 10th standard and teachers attended the session.

Ms Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation for the past 21 years. In her talk she explained the following topics:

    • Difference between cardiac death and brain death
    • Organs and tissues that can be donated in both these cases
    • New advances like hand transplantation
    • Tissue donation (skin, eyes and bones)
    • Organ donation that can happen in case of brain death and number of lives that can be saved
    • Examples of successful transplant stories, articles and news about green corridor

About 25 took the pledge to be organ donors. Mrs. Bajaj (Founder of Eklavya Coaching Classes) commented that awareness programmes of this nature are necessary for people as they are acquiring knowledge about organ donation and their doubts get cleared as well. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mrs.Bajaj for the opportunity and her support towards the cause.
