RMOs and staff of Medical Superintendent Office at B.J GMC & Sasoon Hospital, Pune sensitized about Organ Donation

  • On 7th Jan 2020 MOHAN foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation session for medical officers & staff working at Medical Superintendent Office at B.J GMC & Sasoon Hospital, Pune.

    Dr Jimmy held an awareness session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She then introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd. She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved. Ms Pratima Phadatare elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was a new topic for the trainees. She explained ‘How organ allocation to the persons on the waiting list is transparent’. She also introduced the trainees to new advances in the program like Hand & Uterus transplant. Details of Organ donation Helpline No. 1800 103 7100 was also shared.

    Near About 10 participants including Residential medical officers, staff and medical Social workers attended the program and were distributed information brochures.
