Information Stall on Organ Donation at Shiv Temple on Maha Shivratri Festival in Ambernath

  • On 21st Feb 2020 Awareness Stall was organized at Shiv Temple on the occasion of Maha Shivratri Festival in Kansai Area, Ambernath. MOHAN Foundation was invited for installation of informative stall and for giving awareness about the Organ. The Information Desk was held by Dr. Jimmy Gupta & Mr. Nitin Tambe near the temple. All the arrangements and crowd management was supported by Volunteers.

    Dr. Jimmy Gupta held few frequent awareness sessions and introduced Mohan Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd and everybody started asking queries related to tissue donation which were answered promptly. She also discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was not familiar to the crowd.

    Mr. Nitin Tambe debunked myths around organ donation and explained the fact involved in the process of organ donation.

    About 150 people attended the awareness session and few visited the stall. About 10 pledges were taken & few were filled online. We thank Mr Suresh Chavan & Mr Chetan Chavan for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
