MOHAN Foundation began its second phase of spreading awareness on organ donation among auto drivers and publicising its helpline number from 11th November 2018. The first session of awareness talk among auto drivers and public was in the auto stands of JJ Nagar East locality. Ms. Kaviya. P and Mr. Arun Jose (Interns from Madras Medical Mission College of Health Sciences) were deputed for this task.
Information brochures and green ribbons were distributed among the drivers. In addition to this, stickers displaying the message of organ donation and helpline number of MOHAN Foundation were put up on the autos of drivers who consented. 12 drivers agreed to support the cause by pasting the stickers on the back of their auto rickshaws.
Two of them gave their consent, registered as organ donors and received donor cards. They were also gifted ‘Proud to be an Organ Donor’ badges for supporting this social cause. MOHAN Foundation thanks the auto drivers for participating in this initiative.
