A Youth Group Supports the Organ Donation Cause

  • On 28th October 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Antony Anand – Founder, Friends of Nambikkai Nagar from Chennai, to conduct an awareness program on organ donation. Friends of Nambikkai Nagar is a group of youth who have formed an organization to empower the youth residing in that locality.

    The program which took place at the Marina Beach began with a pot breaking game organized by the volunteers in which many youth actively participated and showed their talents. Followed by the event, Mr. Ruban Victor from MOHAN Foundation addressed the gathering about the importance of organ donation. Before the presentation an ice breaker game was played. The game, Connexion, involved identifying movies related to organ donation using clues, following which a myth showcased in the movie was discussed.

    The second session began with the importance of organ donation, why organ donation is need of the hour and how people are getting benefitted by it. The session also emphasized how a single donor could give life to nine different people. It also focused on blood donation and how youth of the group can actively participate in blood donation and save lives.

    Around fifty people participated in the program, and twenty five of them registered as donors and collected their donor cards.
