An awareness session on organ donation for critical care nurses of Delhi was conducted on March 7, 2013 at Dr RML Hospital, New Delhi. The session was the third in the monthly series and was organized by the Continuing Education Cell Of Dr RML Hospital.
48 participants from Dr RML Hospital, Safdarjung, Guru Tegh Bahadur, Deen Dayal Upadhaya and Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital attended the presentation. Around 20 took organ donor cards.
The presentation emphasized on the role of critical care nurses in the deceased organ donor program. Four key areas where nurses play a vital role i.e. communication, to recognize and identify potential organ donor, donor management and counseling and giving support to the family were stressed upon.
