MOHAN Foundation was given an opportunity to create awareness on organ donation for the dengue breeding control staff at the old municipality office at Thiruvannamalai on March 27, 2024. Mr.Prakash (Manager,Tiruvannamalai municipality office) helped in the arrangement and gathering the sanitation workers.
Organ Donation Ambassador Ms.Sangeetha (Intern,SRIHER) represented MOHAN Foundation and addressed the gathering and distributed the İnformation brochures to all workers and office staff. She spoke about organ donation, brain deathm, time factor for donation, pledging as a donor, myths and facts were clarified and explained. She also gave them the organ donation helpline 1800 103 7100 to call and clarify doubts. She ended the session with a donor story.
The questions asked were:
1. If mother is HIV patient, can her son pledge for organ donation?
2. If family is not interested to donate, can living donation of organ still happen? Clarify this with Ms Sangeeta
3. Will the family be charged for donating organs?
All the doubts were answered and this generated more discussions on organ donation. 40 members attednded and 20 picked up donor cards
