Organ donation Awareness Session at Regional Transport Office, Nagpur

  • MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session on 1st April 2016 at Regional Transport Office, Giripeth, Nagpur for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license.

    Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on organ donation. In this talk he explained the following points.

    1. Organ donation and its types
    2. Difference between Natural death, Coma & Brain death
    3. Difference between living donation & deceased donation
    4. Age limit for organ donation.
    5. Brain death and its causes.
    6. Religious myths about organ donation.
    7. Importance & Needs of organ donation.
    8. Organ donation statistics in India.
    9. Importance of Donor cards

    10. Information sources - MOHAN Foundation helpline number & website.  

    It was a very interactive session. Approximately 37 drivers were present during the talk. 10 drivers took the consent forms, they will discuss with their family members then sign the donor registration form.

    Participants asked following question:-

    1. What is the time duration for eye storage & age criteria for eye donation?
    2. If the case of deceased donation will a family member get the priority for kidney transplant?
    3. How to identify a brain dead patient?
