“Role of Police in Organ Donation” session at the Police Training College, Chennai

  • Grade I police training cadets   under the Chennai wing of the Police Training College were given training on the “Role of Police in Organ Donation”. 97 police cadets attended the session on 06th March 2016 at the Police Training College, Ashok Nagar, Chennai.

    The programme began with a self introduction by the staff of MOHAN Foundation, followed by the welcome address. Transplant Coordinators  Ms.Sunitha and Ms. Gieetha conducted the session

    Ms. Sunitha explained the concepts of organ donation and transplantation and she covered the following points;

    • Concept and types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Brain Death and Coma
    • Role of police in deceased organ donation
    • Transplantation of Human Organ Act , Government Orders and Police Circulars
    • Government hospital protocol

    Followed by Ms.Gieetha Transplant Coordinator explained the poster on highlighting the role of investigation officer in deceased organ donation programme. She also mentioned about few case studies to highlight the role of police

    More than 97 police cadets participated and supported the noble cause and all of them took donor cards. After the training few trainees suggested MOHAN Foundation to conduct more training for the police personnel.
