On June 21, 2026, Mr. Nikhil Nagarkar from MOHAN Foundation conducted an Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Session during the monthly meeting of Swaraj Group in Thane East. The session was attended by approximately 40 participants and was organized with the objective of increasing awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation and encouraging informed discussions on the subject.
During the session, participants were educated about the need for organ and tissue donors in India, the different types of organ and tissue donations, donor eligibility criteria, and the impact that a single donor can have on multiple lives. Information was also shared on the donation process, the role of family consent, and common myths and misconceptions that often prevent people from considering donation.
The session encouraged open dialogue, allowing participants to ask questions and gain clarity on various aspects of organ and tissue donation. The response from the participants was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting their keen interest and enthusiasm towards the cause. Attendees actively engaged in discussions and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn about a topic that has the potential to save and improve lives. The session successfully fostered greater awareness and encouraged participants to become advocates for organ and tissue donation within their families, social circles, and communities.
