On June 10, 2026, Mr. Nikhil Nagarkar from MOHAN Foundation conducted an Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Session at the RTO Borivali Auto Rickshaw Passing Track, Aarey Colony, Mumbai, for auto rickshaw drivers.
The session aimed to create awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation and encourage participants to become informed advocates for the cause. During the session, participants were educated about organ and tissue donation, donor eligibility, the donation and transplantation process, and the difference between organ and tissue donation.
Common myths and misconceptions were addressed, and the importance of discussing donation wishes with family members was emphasized. The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking clarification on various aspects of donation.
The programme successfully enhanced awareness among the auto rickshaw community and encouraged participants to spread the message of organ and tissue donation within their families and social networks. Such outreach initiatives play an important role in fostering community awareness and promoting a positive attitude towards donation. Around 40 drivers atttended the session.
