MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness program on Organ Donation by St. Christopher’s College of Education. The session as conducted by Mr. T. S. Siva Shankar on 21st March 2018 at 3 15 PM.
Ms. Joy Semila, Assistant Professor began the session with a welcome speech and introduction of the speaker. Mr. Siva Shankar started the session by playing a video on what organ donation in simple terms. He then started explaining the activities of MOHAN Foundation.
The session was followed by the concepts and the need for Organ Donation in our country. He gave detailed information on the organs that can be donated and the stages of organ donation. He interspersed the talk with simple film based quiz on organ donation. The students enjoyed the quiz and understood that movies can be misleading. He further clarified some of the common myths on Organ Donation. He explained in detail how Brain Death and Coma are different. The students got a clear idea about this.
The 1 hour session was attended by around 200 B. Ed students. 20 students took their donor cards and registered for Organ Donation.
The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Durga Devi, a first year B. Ed student. The college confirmed that they will invite MOHAN Foundation for their next batch of students.
