  • On May 3, 2025, Ms. Sangeetha, Project Executive at MOHAN Foundation, led an impactful awareness session on organ and tissue donation at the Chennai Study Center in Tiruvannamalai.  The study circles help students to clear the exams for public services. The session was designed to educate students and staff about the importance and life-saving potential of organ and tissue donation.

Ms. Sangeetha delivered an informative and engaging presentation that highlighted the critical need for organ donors, how, what, when of Organ and Tissue Donation.  She addressed the common  myths and misconceptions in the minds of the people. She provided a step-by-step overview of how the donation process works and shared inspiring real-life stories of donors and recipients to help participants connect emotionally with the subject. A movie-based quiz was also conducted, offering an interactive approach to reinforce learning and engagement.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation  with questions:

“Will my family have to pay for organ donation?”,

“Are organs ever sold for money?”, and “Can someone donate their organs without having formally pledged before death?”

Ms. Sangeetha addressed each query with clarity, emphasizing that organ donation is a purely voluntary and altruistic act, that buying and selling organs is illegal under Indian law, and that in many cases, familes can authorize donation even if the individual had not registered as a donor during their lifetime.

Approximately 90 individuals attended the session, and 36 of them took donor cards, indicating their willingness to become organ donors.

MOHAN Foundation extends heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Tamilvendan for his unwavering support in organizing and facilitating this session. The event played a crucial role in dispelling myths, increasing awareness, and fostering a positive attitude toward organ donation within the community.
