Organ Donation Sensitization at Billroth Hospital, R.A Puram

  •  On 28th January 2014, an Organ Donation sensitization programme was organized for the staff nurses of Billroth Hospital, R.A Puram. The imitative was taken by Mr.Ashok, Trainee, MOHAN Foundation who is placed in Billroth Hospital as an Intern.

     

    Ms. Kavitha, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation addressed the gathering. 8 staff nurses and 1 Nursing Superintendent attended the session. 

     

    Ms. Kavitha spoke on: 

    importance of organ donation

    live and deceased organ donation

    difference between brain death, coma and cardiac death

    organs that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death

    MOHAN Foundation website & toll free help line

    time line for Organ Donation

    Early Identification of brain death &Aponea Test

    Transplant Coordinators Training programme

     

    Many queries  were raised at the end of the session like:

    How does the Organ Donation programme work?

    Do the donor families get any benefits?

    Where should a person to register in case of Organ Failure?

    Queries were answered. All pledged for Organ Donation, few nurses showed interest to join Training Programme.
