To commemorate Organ Donation Day, the Mapusa Municipal Council, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Goa and MOHAN Foundation had organised an awareness program on 19th August 2021.
The Special Invitee for the event was the area MLA, Mr. Joshua Peter De Souza; Guest Speaker was Dr. Amol Mahaldar (Organ Co-ordinator, IMA Goa); and the Guest of Honour was Dr. Sophia Rodrigues (President, IMA Bardez)
The program was attended by around 35 people, including the councillors and staff of Mapusa Municipality. Mr. Gabriel John Pereira introduced MOHAN Foundation, Dr. Amol explained the concepts of organ donation and transplantation, while, Dr. Sophia gave some real-life examples about organ donation.
Mapusa MLA Mr. Joshua De Souza and the Chairperson spoke a few words on how the council can take up this initiative on a micro level to spread awareness about the cause.
