Awareness for Construction Workers in Chikkaballapur

  • Mrs. Hemavathi BN, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for laborers involved in stone crushing, in Thilakuntahalli, a village in Chikkaballapur district. Around 23 members attended the session on 28th July 2021.

    Mrs. Hemavathi initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities, continued with the need for organ donation, explained in brief about brain stem death and touched upon the role of Jeevasarthakathe, transplant law and the importance of donor card.

    She also gave some examples of donations which took place recently and explained a few myths and facts related to organ donation. During the interaction, the audience raised the following questions:

    • Do patients have to pay for organs?
    • If we donate organs, will our family members get organ for transplant when required?

    Five of those present showed their support for the cause by pledging their organs.
